Dr. Bea Moore-Luchin is an award-winning mathematics educator. She is the 2025 recipient of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Leadership award and has received the following recognitions: 2024 Benjamin Banneker Service Award; 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award; Texas Council of Teachers of Mathematics E. Glenadine Gibb Award for 2015; TXASCD George H. Brownlee Leadership Award for exemplary leadership in instruction, curriculum and professional development contributions; Houston Business Committee for Educational Excellence Award; Fort Worth/College Board Certificate of Achievement in Academic Excellence; Houston ISD Teacher of the Year Finalist; three Houston Business Committee for Educational Excellence grants; and Fort Worth Business Alliance Educational Leadership Award Dr. Moore has been part of the original Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) 6â8 Mathematics Writing Team and the TEKS Refinement Grades 6â8 Mathematics Trainer of Trainers Writing Team. During her 45-year career, she has been actively involved in mathematics education as a teacher at the secondary and college level, Kâ12 district mathematics coordinator, independent consultant, mathematics coach, and author of a variety of publications. Dr. Moore is a past member of the College Board Equity 2000 Initiative and the NCTM Board of Directors, and she is Executive Director Emeritus of the Banneker Association, an NCTM affiliate.
